Troopa and Zoom AI: what each does in your meetings

Zoom includes its core AI features with eligible paid Zoom Workplace plans, and describes My Notes as a notetaker for Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet meetings. If you are on Zoom you already have something that covers a lot of ground. This page is about what is left.

Every row was checked against Zoom’s own pages. An earlier version of this page claimed Zoom AI could not reach Teams or Google Meet, which is wrong, and claimed a record of reversed decisions that Troopa keeps only where it has been switched on. We cut both rather than soften them.

Every row below was checked against Zoom’s own documentation on 29 September 2026. Spotted something out of date? Tell us and we will correct it and say when.

Typed into a panel, or asked out loud

Zoom’s AI Companion takes questions typed into a chat panel in the meeting window, and Zoom describes My Notes as a notetaker for Teams and Google Meet meetings as well as Zoom ones.

Troopa is asked out loud. Anybody it can hear may say “Hi Troopa”, and the answer appears on the screen of the person running Troopa; choose Present and share Troopa’s window, and the whole meeting reads it. Nobody else needs a Zoom licence or an install.

After the call Troopa writes the notes by topic, with the next steps, and keeps them in the region your organisation chose: the UK, the EU or the US.

Where Zoom AI is the better choice

Be honest with yourself about this, because it is often the right answer.

You are already paying for Zoom

Its core AI features come with eligible paid Zoom Workplace plans, need no additional processor, and reach Teams and Google Meet meetings through My Notes.Zoom. AI Companion and ZoomMate, June 2026 →

You would rather not have another vendor on your register

That is a real consideration rather than a technicality, and we are that vendor.

You would rather type questions than say them

Zoom’s AI Companion takes typed questions in a panel beside the meeting. Troopa can be typed to as well, but it is built to be asked out loud.Zoom Support, asking in-meeting questions with AI →

So what is actually different?

How each one is asked, and who sees the answer. Zoom’s AI Companion takes questions typed into a panel in the meeting window.
